EWP Wood Cutter/ Forklift Operator

We are currently seeking a full-time Forklift Operator with a background in Engineered Wood Products for our Portland Branch that reports directly to our Operations Manager. This role also receives instructions from the Team Lead, Operations Lead, and/or Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

Reads hand written or system generated sales order to determine product
Notes all special instructions for filling an order
Operates chainsaw and other saw equipment
Operates forklift safely at all times following all safety rules and regulations
Performs daily inspections of forklift(s) as required by OSHA and Capital Lumber Company standards
Notifies Supervisory of any necessary equipment maintenance/repair or safety concerns
Bands lumber product for storage or shipping
Assists in moving of inventory for storage within the yard area as directed
Properly stores inventory–level and covered as necessary
Assists in inventory and/or cycle counts as directed
Assist in keeping all lanes and areas clean and clear for traffic
Perform other work related duties as assigned

Operations Supervisor – Night Shift

• Assists the Operations Manager in all areas of yard operations as directed
• Oversees and directs forklift operation in shipping and receiving orders
• Schedules and distributes sales orders to staff.
• Checks receiving orders for accuracy and notifies appropriate Managers of discrepancies
• Responsible for overseeing the accurate loading of all delivery orders
• Oversees the remanufacturing process, if present
• Performs cycle inventory counts and assists in regularly scheduled inventories
• Responsible for housekeeping of the yard, performing and appropriately delegating the nightly checklist
• Responsible for training and retraining of new and current employees
• Operates a forklift as necessary to assist in meeting a schedule
• Responsible for maintaining a reasonable level of supplies
• Ensures that all policies, programs, guidelines and procedures are implemented and practiced as expected
• Maintains and appropriately shares records of all safety issues
• Perform other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes

We are currently looking for an Engineered Wood Product Designer (EWP) for our Portland Branch. This position offers administrative and primarily technical support to our Engineered Wood Products customers with assistance of Account Managers by providing design specifications of our products including framing, layout and number calculations. Manages single family projects from design to shipping products with minimal supervision. Some of the key essential functions are:

  • Demonstrates and maintains proper work methods in accordance with established Company Safety rules, procedures and programs.
  • Understanding of building construction, structural details, local building codes, and product lines.
  • Uses design software accurately to create framing layouts and specify EWP products to meet both Capital and its Customer’s program.
  • Create material list and perform plan takeoffs for single family and small multifamily projects.
  • Use software and/or span charts to size framing members such as beams, headers, girders, joists, etc.
  • Receive incoming calls and direct customers to appropriate departments.
  • Use DMSI software for product purchasing, selling, inventory management.
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during the course of employment with Capital.

EWP Wood Cutter/ Forklift Operator

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • 1-4 years previous experience with forklifts and other machinery (as designated by and at the discretion of the Division and Operations Manager for the particular position available).
  • Active Forklift Certification.
  • Good knowledge of lumber products.
  • Basic Math skills.
  • Good communication skills with a positive attitude.
  • Able to lift, shift, and push weight up to 75 pounds.
  • Able to read, write, speak, and understand English to the extent required to receive and communicate information as necessary to the position.

Attendance:

  • Excellent attendance is required for this fast-paced position.
  • Possible overtime and weekend hours may be required for this position.

Engineered Wood Designer

 

We are currently looking for an Engineered Wood Product Designer (EWP) III for our Woodburn, OR Branch. This position offers some administrative and primarily technical support to our Engineered Wood Products customers with assistance of Accounts Managers by providing design specifications of our products including framing, layout and number calculations. Coaches new designers, manages priorities across multiple EWP projects. Manages residential and commercial projects from bidding, designing and shipping to job sites. Some of the key essential functions are:

  • Understanding of building construction, structural details, local building codes, and product lines
  • Responsible for EWP product management and inventory control
  • May assist customers with product promotions and product training sessions
  • Responsible for training and coaching new designers, assigning projects and various duties
  • Conduct presentations to customers, contractors and other industry professionals on EWP products, services and company programs
  • Uses design software accurately to create framing layouts and specify EWP products to meet both Capital and its Customer’s program
  • Create material list and perform plan takeoffs for single family and small multifamily projects.
  • Use software and/or span charts to size framing members such as beams, headers, girders, joists, etc.
  • Receive incoming calls and direct customers to appropriate departments
  • Use DMSI software for product purchasing, selling, inventory management
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during the course of employment with Capital.
