We are currently seeking a full-time Forklift Operator- Night Shift for our Denver Branch that reports directly to our Operations Manager. This role also receives instructions from the Team Lead, Operations Lead, and/or Supervisor.

Essential Functions:

  • Reads hand written or system generated sales order to determine product
  • Notes all special instructions for filling an order
  • Accurately pulls delivery orders and stages for loading as directed
  • Accurately pulls delivery orders and packages as directed
  • Loads product on trailers for delivery
  • Notes all discrepancies and reviews these with Supervisor
  • Safely, accurately, courteously loads product on customer’s truck/trailer
  • Notifies Supervisor of any request to load a potential unsafe vehicle
  • Notifies Supervisor of any request to overload a vehicle
  • Operates forklift safely at all times following all safety rules and regulations
  • Performs daily inspections of forklift(s) as required by OSHA and Capital Lumber Company standards
  • Notifies Supervisory of any necessary equipment maintenance/repair or safety concerns
  • Bands lumber product for storage or shipping
  • Assists in moving of inventory for storage within the yard area as directed
  • Properly stores inventory – level and covered as necessary
  • Assists in inventory and/or cycle counts as directed
  • May operate saw equipment intermittently
  • Assist in keeping all lanes and areas clean and clear for traffic
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during the course of employment

Education, Experience, and Skills Required:

  • 1 to 4 years previous experience with forklifts and other machinery
  • Has Forklift Certification
  • Good knowledge of lumber products
  • Ability to model the Capital values and to provide innovative solutions
  • Ability to deliver high quality, detailed error free work on a consistent basis
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to the extent required to receive and communicate information as necessary to the position.

This position will oversee the management of customer accounts; services customers by selling products, fielding questions, resolves customer issues.  This role will also be responsible for servicing existing accounts as well as establish new accounts.

Merchandising Specialist

The Merchandising Specialist is responsible for representing Capital, effectively working in teams or individually to perform resets and other work including, but not limited to, reading and implementation of plan-o-grams, new item placement, corrections, and inventory activity.

Please Note: The position will include driving around Northern California and will have stops ranging from Hayward to Vacaville.  Mileage will be reimbursed.

Education, Experience and Skills Required

  • High School Diploma required and/or 1-2 years customer service experience in retail is preferred but not required
  • Proficient at prioritizing, planning, and organization
  • Able to read and understand a schematic written in English
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with others
  • Attention to details, safety and quality
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and individually
  • Must be outgoing and able to accurately troubleshoot hurdles.
  • Ability to anticipate, analyze, and prioritize complex problems
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing technology CRM, smartphones or other handheld devices

We are currently looking for an Inside Sales Representative for our Sacramento Branch reporting directly to our Branch and/or Sales Manager. The position will Represents Capital’s business interests as defined by the Mission Statement, particularly in efforts to develop and maintain its existing and prospective customer base as trading partners. Works to satisfy the needs of the customer by means of information, products, problem solving and services available through Capital. Some of the key essential functions are:

Receives and writes orders from customers over the phone providing pricing, product and delivery information

  • Services customers at the walk in counter who may need information or product
  • Fields phone and in-person inquiries providing pricing/quotes from established price books/lists and product information
  • Coordinates orders with yard personnel
  • Assists customers with problems
  • Communicates order information and status to appropriate Account Managers for their customers
  • Participates in physical inventories
  • Maintains on-going product knowledge
  • Perform other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during the course of employment

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

  • Minimum of an associates degree from an accredited academic institution or commensurate industry experience
  • Knowledge of the industry, the Company and the products and services provided

Yard Assistant

• Duties may include, once properly trained and certified as required: yard clean up, product receiving, breakdown, product handling and operating yard equipment
• Pick up all foreign material in yard in order to maintain a safe work environment and clean appearance
• Collect recyclable materials and store as directed
• Sweep the yard safely using a mechanical sweeper if available
• Review supply inventory with Supervisor to maintain necessary level
• Notify Supervisor of any maintenance or safety issues observed
• Manually stack lumber products as instructed
• Assist with inventory and/or cycle counts as directed
• May operate a gas powered tug to move lumber products
• Package materials and keep packaging area clean and organized
• Assist in keeping all lanes and other areas clean and clear for traffic
• May assist in general yard housekeeping and chores as assigned
• May use saw to cut lengths from lumber as needed to fill an order if properly trained
• Keep an inventory of stickers, corners and wrap
• May occasionally bar code
• Perform other work related duties as assigned by your supervisor and be flexible and adaptable to changes that will occur during the course of employment.
